Classic format of 4 to 6 sardines. These sardines in tomato sauce are particularly popular with children, and adults enjoy them too.
In the composition of the tomato sauce, La Quiberonnaise uses exclusively the double tomato concentrate from Louis Martin, a French brand in Montreux in Provence since 1918.
This very mild and acid-free tomato sauce is the perfect match for these fresh, hand-prepared sardines.
Like good wine, sardines also mature over time and get better the longer they are stored. That is why the year of catch is noted on many cans, and they are referred to as "vintage sardines". We currently have the vintages from 2010 to 2014 on offer. The sardine tastes best when the oil has thoroughly penetrated it from all sides. We recommend turning the can every 6 months and opening it after at least one year. You will clearly taste the difference: the more mature sardines are significantly more tender and flavorful and practically melt in your mouth. Younger sardines simply have more bite, the flesh is much firmer and has not yet absorbed as much oil.
