Vinho Verde. This is not only a wine, but also the name of the region it comes from. It stretches across northwestern Portugal between the Douro and Minho rivers. The region is very green, hence the name of the wine (Portuguese for "green wine"). In the flat valleys near the rivers, grapes are grown for mass production, while on the rather inhospitable slopes, exciting low-yielding grapes grow, which are cultivated for the production of high-quality wines.It is precisely for these wines that our hearts beat ... Some of you already got to taste last year how well Vinho Verde from Portugal goes with asparagus from Brandenburg. So we’re holding our celebration again this season – weather permitting, of course, with the old varieties from Demeter farmer Paul Schulz from Havelsee.  So come by and raise a glass with us to mark the end of asparagus season on Friday, May 27, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. We look forward to seeing you!

On April 15, the new goat cheese season begins, and we cordially invite you to taste all the fine goat cheeses we have been waiting for all winter. Of course, there will also be a suitable wine pairing – come by, we look forward to seeing you!

In the last week of February, we flew to Porto to attend the two wine fairs "Essência do Vinho" and "Simplesmente Vinho". In just a few days, we discovered numerous exciting wines, reunited with many friends, and placed a few new orders that will arrive with us soon. We are always on the lookout for exciting new products that capture our hearts and that we can offer our customers. Our focus is, of course, on French delicacies, but when there are interesting products to discover and taste elsewhere, we are curious and take a closer look … Portugal seems to be a real treasure trove in this regard! Everything used to be better! How fortunate that this claim is not always true … especially when it comes to Vinho Verde. In the past, this was known as a lemonade-like wine with barely 10% alcohol and a lot of carbonation. Today, fortunately, things are different, because the new generation of winemakers aspires to measure up with their product to the "crème de la crème" of the globalized wine world … and: they succeed!
