Through our repeated travels and the fantastic wines discovered along the way, our otherwise very French wine selection has – as you may have already noticed – expanded to include several excellent, hand-picked Portuguese wines.
To introduce them to you in a suitably festive setting, we are hosting a
Festa Portuguesa on Friday, October 16 (2–8 p.m.) and
Saturday, October 17 (12–4 p.m.)!
This weekend we welcome three up-and-coming young winemakers from Portugal:
Rita Marquez Ferreira from Conceito (Douro Alto) and Luis Vegas Louro from Adega do Monte Branco (Alentejo) will be pouring their wines on both days; and António Madeira (Dão) will join the party on Saturday!
All three represent Portugal's new generation of winemakers: they have traveled widely (to Bordeaux, California, New Zealand, and South Africa) and have brought back and further developed the insights and techniques they gained. And all this while continuing to nurture their own traditions in the vineyard and cellar. Above all, however, without sacrificing the almost incredible diversity of indigenous Portuguese grape varieties.
You can discover for yourself how this dynamic has created an extremely exciting range of wines at an open tasting:
Over 10 different wines will be available to taste, including those from Quinta do Monte Travesso, Quinta do Judeu, and Quinta do Teamonde.
Fresh petiscos by Anabela Campos-Neves will be available as a culinary accompaniment. With her restaurant anabela's Kitchen, she has been proving for decades that Portuguese cuisine has so much more to offer than just codfish.
