A light-footed Loureiro that does exactly what it’s meant to do: bring you pleasure.
This wine comes from the Cávado e Lima sub-region in northern Portugal’s lush landscape, right in the heart of Vinho Verde country. The vines grow on granite soils that give the wine its clear, fresh character. It is made from 100% Loureiro, a grape variety that is right at home here and known for its floral and citrus aromas and delightful lightness.
What makes this wine special is Dirk Niepoort’s Nat Cool concept: less is more. Less alcohol, less extraction, less fuss – and more drinkability. Authentic, light and uncomplicated, bottled in the characteristic one-litre bottle at a fair price. A wine you don’t need to study for long – simply open and enjoy, well chilled on a warm day, without any fuss.
The wine is made by winemaker Márcio Lopes. The grapes are harvested by hand in small 18- to 20-kilogram crates and gently pressed whole, followed by 48 hours of clarification. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by five months of ageing – also in stainless steel. This keeps the wine clear, fresh and true to itself.
