To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Belle-Iloise has gone to particular lengths to create 3 new varieties of sardines that will introduce us to new worlds of flavor.
The sardines with Batak berries and turmeric transport us under a golden sun. The fragrant warmth of the turmeric combines with the lemony notes of the Batak berries and blends with rapeseed oil sourced in France.
Wild Batak pepper is a very rare pepper, like Voatsiperifery from Madagascar and red Kampot pepper from Cambodia. To this day, it grows exclusively in the wild and is very difficult to harvest. Since it only grows wild in the highlands of Sumatra, it is harvested only by the local people.
The aroma of Batak pepper is unique. It is a harmonious blend of pink grapefruit, blood orange, and hibiscus, with a hint of mandarin and orange. For this reason, the various flavors of prepared dishes taste much more intense.
