A feast for the eyes and the palate: Where maritime tradition meets abstract photography.
With the 2025 vintage edition, we present a collector's item that blurs the lines between culinary art and fine art. This exclusive series consists of three beautifully designed tins, inspired by the impressive work of photographer Hervé Maupin.
The design: “Color Awakens”
Inspired by Maupin's work “Peintres de carènes et haïkus”, these tins capture the fleeting moments at the Guilvinec hull-scraping yard. For over thirty years, Maupin has documented the spontaneous bursts of color and traces left by workers cleaning the ship hulls. These abstract forms evoke the dynamism of Jackson Pollock or the depth of color found in the work of Yves Klein. Each tin tells the story of the passage of time and the rugged beauty of the Breton coast.
Culinary excellence: The 2025 vintage
Beneath the artistic exterior lies the very best the sea has to offer. Our vintage sardines of the Sardina pilchardus variety are caught exclusively during the peak season between May and October.
-
Optimal texture: Only during these months do the sardines have the ideal fat content, making them particularly tender and full-flavored.
-
Local origin: The catch comes directly from the historic ports of Brittany (Lorient, Concarneau, Douarnenez, Saint-Guénolé) and Vendée.
-
Maturation process: Like a fine wine, our vintage sardines improve with age. Over time, the olive oil penetrates the flesh, making it tender and creamy.
Why choose this series?
-
Collector's value: Limited edition with a regional artistic connection.
-
Handcrafted: A tribute to the historic expertise of our cannery.
-
