Where Terroir Has the Last Word
Between Bombarral and Óbidos, fifty minutes north of Lisbon, lies the Vinhos Desviso winery: small, uncompromising, handmade.
Scott and Marta have not established a wine factory here, but a project driven by conviction: Every grape is selectively harvested by hand. Every wine ferments spontaneously with wild, grape-native yeasts. Nothing is embellished, nothing filtered, nothing stabilized.
What reaches the glass is the Estremadura, raw and alive.
The collection includes one bottle each of the following six wines.
- Gouveio 2023 — 100% Gouveio, 1,712 bottles. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, aged for seven months in a combination of used oak barrels and stainless steel. Fresh and lively.
- Arinto 2023 — 100% Arinto, 1,682 bottles. Fermented in concrete tanks and wood, aged for ten months in barrels and steel. Structured, mineral, with lively acidity.
- Fernão Pires 2023 — 100% Fernão Pires, 1,684 bottles. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged for eight months, with 36% in French oak barrels. Aromatic, with freshness.
- Encruzado 2024 — 100% Encruzado, 1,161 bottles. Seven months in French barrels (75% used, 25% new). Creamy texture, citrus and flowers, with aging potential.
- Castelão 2023 — 100% Castelão, 1,340 bottles. Ten months of barrel aging. Dark fruit, shaped by the Estremadura.
- Touriga Nacional 2023 — 100% Touriga Nacional, 1,260 bottles. Fifteen months in used French oak barrels. Concentrated and multifaceted, with the variety's violet aroma.
